A YOUNG North-East band are hoping their first CD will help kickstart their career.
The Low Lights, Liam Tansley, 21, Richard Trubridge, Caspar Rolfe and Scott Fenner, all 19, have recorded five of their own songs.
The band formed at New College Durham, where the four were studying music, a year ago and have won admirers with their pop rock sound at gigs around the Durham area and in Newcastle.
The Low Lights came third in a battle of the bands competition at O'Neill's Irish pub, in Durham, and are awaiting the results of a similar contest at the city's Walkabout Australian pub.
Singer-guitarist Richard said: "We are hoping the CD will get us a bit more coverage and attention and bigger gigs like the universities.
"We've always had a good response at the gigs. Even when we have felt we haven't played that well, people have said how much they enjoyed it.
"We'd like to break into other parts of the country."
The band will showcase the CD on Thursday night at O'Neill's, in Durham City.
The Low Lights will perform an hour-long set preceded by half-hour performances by local acts The Modes and The Pictures of Anything.
The evening starts at 7.30pm and admission is free. There will be a free buffet and copies of the CD will be on sale. The band's website is www.thelow lights.net
