CAMPAIGNERS fighting to retain a successful school in its village location have announced a series of events.
The Save Hurworth and Rural Education (Share) protest group was created in response to controversial plans unveiled by Darlington Borough Council.
The council wants Hurworth School to take over Eastbourne Comprehensive and to merge the two in a new £20m school in Yarm Road, Darlington.
Share will be staging a demonstration outside Hurworth School on Wednesday, at 3.30pm, while council education chiefs talk to staff and union officials.
A public meeting takes place on the same day, starting at 7pm in Middleton St George community centre, and on Saturday, there will be a table top sale in Hurworth village hall, from 10am to noon.
