Bishop Auckland manager Brian Honour criticised his side's defending after they slumped to a 4-1 defeat at Clitheroe.
Bishops are now second bottom of the First Division with one point from three games and Honour said: "Some of the players need to be realistic.
"Simple errors cost us dearly, and they need to get out of the mode of thinking that it will be easy to win promotion.
"They need to be doing the things that helped us finish last season well. It was a poor performance and a poor result."
It looked good for Bishops when Mark Sheeran headed them into the lead after 13 minutes, but Clitheroe levelled.
Bishops had a bad second-half with Clitheroe scoring three times in ten minutes. Tony Evans headed a second on 68 minutes, with Neil Reynolds getting the third from 20 yards. Sargeson completed the scoring with the Bishops defence all at sea.

Cleadon SC, unbeaten in six Wearside League games, have a two point lead at the top after winning the South Tyneside derby against Jarrow.
Andrew Barclay gave Jarrow a 40th minute lead which they held until the hour. Finbar Lynch levelled and Cleadon clinched their fifth win with a 70th minute penalty by Daniel Efford.
Birtley Town moved up into second, scoring twice in the last 14 minutes to win 4-1 at Wolviston.
Neil Blue and Stephen Rochester had them two up but Don Cairns reduced the deficit in the 71st minute.
Paul Bryson netted a penalty for Birtley and in the last minute Blue scored his second.
Teesside Athletic recorded their third success with a 2-1 win at Windscale. Billy Millington broke the deadlock after 59 minutes and following Kevin Law's equaliser, James Kesterton struck the winner with five minutes remaining.
Stokesley SC beat Cleator Moor Celtic with a late goal from Ian Fairlamb.
Willington went out of the Monkwearmouth Charity Cup when Annfield Plain scored twice in the last 20 minutes to secure a 3-0 victory, Craig Suggett (2) and Alan Coxon on target.
Ferryhill Athletic's form is improving although they lost 2-0 to Nissan SSC Sunderland. Stephen Watson and Kirk Hardy (penalty ) proved the difference.
There was also a close finish at Boldon CA where Gateshead Low Fell won 2-1.
