A SWEATSHIRT worn by former Coronation Street star Bruno Langley will go under the hammer to raise money for children with diabetes.
The soap souvenir is among a host of memorabilia that will be auctioned this weekend to raise money to buy insulin pumps for young people being treated by Bishop Auckland Hospital paediatric consultant Dr Bill Lamb.
Other items on the list include a signed football and football shirt from Darlington Football Club and pictures signed by Jimmy Nail and the cast of Ballykissangel. Tom Dixon, from Calder Close, Etherley Dene, has been collecting the items for the auction which will be one of the attractions at a summer fair to be held by the Escomb Amenity Hall and George Pit Community Association at Escomb village hall on Saturday, between 2pm and 5pm.
He said: "I want to raise at least £750 to go towards the cost of an insulin pump. They are £2,500 and we have already raised around £550.
"I am hoping as many people as possible come to the fair to show their support and take part in the auction which should happen at 2.45pm."
Mr Dixon will also be running a raffle and a lucky dip on the day in a bid to boost funds further.
* Bearpark and Esh Colliery Band will perform at Bishop Auckland Town Hall on Saturday, October 1, at 7.30pm, to raise money for insulin pumps for Dr Lamb's patients.
Tickets for the concert cost £5 for adults (concessions £4) and are available by telephoning 0191-373 6695 or (01388) 768076.
