DOZENS of people donned their walking shoes to take part in a Million Mile Challenge towards fitness.
About 100 people took part in the Stockton stage of the national event yesterday, which aims to put people on the road to good health.
The walkers strode on despite the high temperatures to take part in a three-mile walk around Stockton, which contributed towards the North-East's regional target of one million miles.
Starting at the Baptist Tabernacle, they strolled to the Tees Barrage and back.
Joanne Heron, community health and fitness advisor for Stockton Borough Council, said: "This walk was a great way for people to start on the road to healthy living.
"Regular exercise has proven to help people lead healthier, happier lives and it's great so many people turned out for the walk."
