MONEY raised at a black tie dinner to mark the second anniversary of the death of a military police officer was presented to a hospital ward yesterday.
Lance Corporal Ben Hyde, 23, from Northallerton, North Yorkshire, was one of six Red Caps who died in an ambush on a police station in Iraq on June 24, 2003.
The Lance Cpl Ben Hyde Memorial Trust was set up by his parents, John and Sandra Hyde, to raise money for the Royal Military Police (RMP) benevolent fund and other worthwhile causes.
The trust organised a black tie dinner and dance at the Hambleton Forum, Northallerton, on June 24.
It attracted 155 guests and raised more than £2,000, which was divided between the RMP benevolent fund and ward four at the Friarage Hospital, Northallerton.
Yesterday, Mr Hyde presented £1,000 to staff on the ward. He said the dinner would become an annual event.
