ARMED police stopped and boarded a train after reports of youths carrying firearms last night. A member of the public reported seeing four boys, two carrying what appeared to be handguns, walking to a railway station in Middlesbrough at about 5.20pm. Armed officers went to the scene, but the youths had boarded a train for Darlington. After liaising with British Transport Police, the train was stopped at Eaglescliffe station, where officers entered the train and spoke to four teenagers. Two ball-bearing guns were seized and destroyed. A police spokesman said: "Cleveland Police take all incidents involving allegations of weapons extremely seriously."
