A GROUP of youngsters are hooked on fishing after visiting an angling centre.
About 35 pupils from five schools in Sunderland spent a day at Wadsworth Angling Centre, in Witton Park, near Bishop Auckland, County Durham, as part of a week-long summer school.
The event was organised by the Gifted and Talented Programme, at Pennywell School, Sunderland.
Pupils of all ages took part in a number of science and technology-based activities, including learning more about fish.
The angling centre is the home of Bishop Auckland Angling Club and was set up in partnership with the Countryside Agency to support community projects.
Club member Marjorie Lodge said: "This is what Wadsworth is for - to get young people interested in outdoor activities like fishing.
