A CHEQUE for £250 has been presented to the Gurkha Welfare Trust.
The money was raised at the annual Richmond Meet celebrations in May.
The cheque was presented to the trust's local representative, Keith Ryding, by Pauline Dowse, president of the Meet committee.
She said: "The soldiers of the Gurkha Company based at Catterick have supported Richmond for the past five years in many ways, especially at the Meet gala.
"The soldiers are so smart and polite when they are in town and are a credit to their regiment.
"As they will not accept a donation directly, the Meet is only too pleased to donate to the welfare trust."
Mr Ryding said the money would help support destitute Gurkha soldiers in Nepal, some of whom fought for Britain in the Second World War
