A LIBRARY is launching a course for people who want to learn how to research local history.
The Clayport Library, Millennium Place, Claypath, Durham, has teamed up with Sunderland University's Centre for Lifelong Learning to run the five-week accredited course, Pointers to the Past, on Mondays, between 7pm and 9pm, starting on October 10.
Local historian David Butler, who will lead the course, said: "Local history can be addictive, but it won't damage your health.
"This is a course for beginners, so if you've ever felt you wanted to know more about some aspect of Durham's history, but weren't sure where to start, this course will help you discover how to take the first steps.
"As well as setting you on your way, it's likely to fire your enthusiasm for learning more and help you discover sources you didn't know existed.''
The course costs £27.50, concessions are available, and places must be booked in advance, by calling 0191-386 4003.
