YOUNGSTERS wanting to be train drivers when they grow up were given a taste of life on a train at Darlington Railway Centre and Museum.
The venue held its last Steaming Marvellous event for the summer, which included a variety of games and activities, as well as the chance to take a ride behind the Peckett steam train.
The events have been running throughout August and have proved a big hit with young and old alike.
However, the venue still has events up its sleeve to draw in the public during the autumn months too.
Visitors will soon be given the chance to see behind the scenes at one of the most important collections of railway buildings in the world.
The museum has joined in the national Heritage Open Days initiative and is to open the Hopetown Carriage Works and the Station Goods Shed.
Both buildings are used by railway preservation groups as workshops and are not open to museum visitors.
Volunteers from the museum's Friends organisation will be running guided tours of the buildings at 10.30am and 2pm on Saturday, September 10, and Sunday, September 11.
Admission to the venue is £2.50 for adults and £1.50 for children and concessions.
