BORO centre forward Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink collected three points yesterday - but they were not a cause for celebration.

The Dutchman was recorded doing 87mph in his black Range Rover on the A19 in May and was charged with speeding.

He pleaded guilty by letter to the offence and did not appear before Teesside Magistrates' Court yesterday.

The 33-year-old, who lives in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, was caught on the northbound stretch of the dual carriageway by a police patrol car parked on the A67 slip road.

The court heard that the striker failed to pay the £60 fixed-penalty fine for breaking the speed limit by 17mph, as he could not find his driving licence after recently moving home.

Magistrates endorsed Hasselbaink's licence with three penalty points, issued a £60 fine and ordered him to pay £25 costs
