A man has been airlifted to hospital in Middlesbrough following an explosion which ripped through his caravan at a site in North Yorkshire.
Emergency crews were called to the Pembrooke Caravan Park in Leeming Bar, near Northallerton, on Tuesday.
The man, who managed to crawl to safety, was taken to the special burns unit at the James Cook Hospital in Middlesborough with serious injuries.
Campers managed to put the fire out before fire crews from Bedale arrived at the scene.
Peter McGowan, who was staying on the site, said: "I heard what sounded like a dull thud and then I heard screams for help.
"I went out like quite a few of us did and saw the man. Although he was talking to us he was obviously in a deep state of shock.
"We covered him in damp towels until the paramedics arrived."
