A DEVELOPMENT of environmentally-friendly holiday homes is in the running for an award.
The lodges on the outskirts of Richmond have been shortlisted in the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Pro Yorkshire Awards 2005, in the design and innovation category.
The lodges were built by Ecobuild UK.
Christopher Johnstone, regional director of RICS Yorkshire and Humber, said: "The standard and volume of entrants was extremely high this year and we congratulate Ecobuild UK on its success."
The lodges are built entirely of wood, glass and other sustainable products.
They are designed to be as environmentally friendly as possible and feature a living plant-based roof, insulation made from recycled paper, on-site spring water for drinking and a natural reed bed system for the disposal of sewage.
Ecobuild director Simon Spence said it was gratifying to earn the recognition.
