THE Black Lion pub, in Sedgefield, was judged the town's best-decorated business, winning the George Robinson Trophy in the Civic Trust floral competition.
Runners-up in the commercial properties section were the Dun Cow Hotel and Ministers Restaurant. The Golden Lion was highly commended.
In the conservation area, the Doris Etherington Cup went to Mr and Mrs L Mitchell (Stockton Road). Second went to Mr and Mrs G Jacobs (East Parade), with M Wilkinson (East Parade) third.
For the northern area, the Monica Cunningham Cup went to Mr and Mrs A Hall, (Whitehouse Drive). Runners-up were Mr and Mrs J Storey (Rowan Oval), with Mrs M Smith (The Lane) third. Highly commended were Mr and Mrs P Cullen (The Orchard), Mr and Mrs PA McLaughlin (Whitehouse Drive).
In the southern section, the Monica Waters Cup went to Mr and Mrs JG Waller (Queens Drive), with Mrs M Galley (Hadleigh Close) second and Mr and Mrs R Wright (Station Road) third.
Highly commended were Mr and Mrs H Allenson (Spring Lane), Mr and Mrs M Gatty (The Meadows), Mr and Mrs L Hartgrove (Station Road) and Mr and Mrs EW Yetman (Eden Drive).
