SUPERMARKET staff turned back the clock to recreate the atmosphere of a 1940s street party in their car park.
Asda, in Spennymoor, hosted the event last weekend to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.
Staff dressed in wartime outfits, hung flags and bunting and organised live music to create a nostalgic feeling for visitors.
Other customers bought produce from stalls at the event to raise more than £500 for the Royal British Legion.
Store manager Maurice Goldsbrough said: "It was organised as a fun way to commemorate VE and VJ Day and to raise money for charity.
"It went better than I could have imagined. The older people especially liked it and it was so special there were a few teary eyes."
