ALLOTMENTS in a North-East town are to be relocated, to help make way for a £170m flagship development.
Tees Valley Regeneration is creating hundreds of jobs by bringing offices, a hotel, conference centre and other facilities to the Haughton Road area of Darlington.
But the scheme means that the existing Hundens Lane allotments need to be moved.
Borough councillors have now given the go-ahead for them to be sited in Rydal Road.
An application from Tees Valley Regeneration to turn the land into 29 allotment plots was approved by planning committee members.
There will also be extra plots provided for the nearby Dodmire Infant and Junior schools.
