A MAN and a woman from Hartlepool have been charged following alleged thefts from businesses in Barnard Castle.
Steven Holtom, aged 25, of Derwent Road, appeared before South Durham magistrates yesterday charged with stealing jewellery worth £4,000 from Hopper's, in the Market Place, and two bottles of Chanel perfume, valued at £100, from Mardsens chemists, in Galgate.
He was remanded in custody until August 31. A woman charged jointly with him was given police bail to appear in court on September 7.
