AN elderly cyclist who was knocked from his bike on a south Durham road was yesterday said to be improving.
Police confirmed yesterday that the 74-year-old man's condition had picked up and said he was in a serious but stable condition at James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough.
The cyclist, from Newton Aycliffe, suffered serious head injuries when a car was in collision with his bike near Newton Aycliffe, shortly after 10am on Wednesday.
Police said a black Mitsubishi Colt collided with the man's bike at the Heighington Lane roundabout, south of Aycliffe Industrial Estate.
The 30-year-old female driver was uninjured.
Witnesses are asked to call Durham Police on 0845 60 60 365.
