A FORMER councillor who twice served as a town's mayor has died.
Marjorie Carr was a member of Peterlee Town Council, in County Durham, for more than 20 years.
She first served as a councillor for the Eden Hill area of the town and then became the representative for the Passfield Ward in Peterlee.
She was Mayor of Peterlee in 1985-6 and again in 1997-8.
Council leader Bill Jeffrey said yesterday: "Marjorie served the town well as a councillor and was an excellent ambassador for the area.''
She was honoured by the council when it named the road leading to its Shotton Hall offices, Marjorie's Walk.
Mrs Carr's funeral will be held at St Cuthbert's Church on Tuesday at 1.30pm
