STORIES of local births, deaths and marriages are just one of the attractions during a weekend of activities in Swainby.
Swainby History Group has organised the history weekend in aid of the village hall refurbishment fund.
The event is launched in the village hall today, at 7.30pm, when there will be a Hatch, Match and Despatch performance in original costume, tracing the stories of local births, marriages and deaths. Tickets cost £5.
Tomorrow and Sunday, Holy Cross Church hosts an exhibition of wedding dresses and Christening gowns connected with the village, complete with flowers.
In the village hall there will be a historical exhibition and local photographs, and visitors to the old church can try their hand at researching local or family history.
There will be guided walks around the village at 10.30am on both mornings.
On Saturday, there will be a performance in the village hall, at 7.30pm, celebrating 200 years of Whorlton in original costume. Tickets cost £5.
On Sunday, there will be a display of classic and veteran cars.
