A GROUP of youngsters from Shildon took part in a five-day summer camp at the Lake District.
The Pilgrim Summer Camp saw 23 youngsters aged 14 and over visit the Park Foot campsite, Pooley Bridge, Ullswater, in the Lake District, as guests of the 120 Army Youth Team based in Marne Barracks, Catterick.
The youngsters took part in several outdoor activities during the week, including orienteering, abseiling, mountain biking, raft building and canoeing.
However, there was also hard work, and a spokesman for the group said: "It wasn't all fun and activities - after each meal, each section took it in turns to wash and clean up."
There was also a competition day as the group was split into six teams to take part in a triathlon.
A volleyball match between The Pilgrim Club All Stars and the staff from 120 Army Youth Team also took part, with the Army side narrowly taking honours.
The spokesman said that it was the best camp they had taken part in.
"We would all like to thank Sip, Joyce and the staff from 120 Army Youth Team for providing another excellent camp," he said.
