AN event to learn about the life of a famous dales artist and craftsman is to be held next week.
Meet the Middletons, in Middleton-in-Teesdale, is holding an evening event focusing on the life of Jacob Readshaw.
Mr Readshaw lived in Middleton until his death in 1912 and practised several crafts, including painting, cabinet making and astronomy.
Grace Wallace, the general manager of Meet the Middletons, said: "He was a polymath - a man of many talents. We have planned the event as we think that he deserves an evening dedicated to his many crafts." Lorne Tallentire and Judith Storey will give a talk and presentation about the artist's background and life.
A collection of objects and information relating to Mr Readshaw will also be on display for the evening, including a violin he made in the 1800s.
The event organisers are also appealing to find out if anybody has any furniture or paintings by Mr Readshaw.
The event is on Wednesday next week, and tickets are £5, which include wine and a buffet supper.
To book tickets or for more information, telephone the centre on (01833) 640333.
