A DAY for fun on two wheels takes place next week to show off the facilities at a park which is proposed for a former pit village.
A group of dedicated BMX riders in Langley Park, near Durham City, have organised the Skate Park Fun Day where they will show off BMX biking and skateboarding.
Teenage members of the Skate Park Users' Group are working with the Equal Partnership, the community body which works to improve the villages of Esh, Quebec, Ushaw and Langley Park, to create a skate park.
The facility would be built in the proposed Sir Bobby Robson Park, to be created on land owned by Langley Park Sports and Social Club and Derwentside District Council - the site where the former Newcastle United manager played football as a young man.
The teenagers have been given £500 by the council towards drawing up plans for the skate park and the group is to stage a fun day on Tuesday, at Wood View Community Centre in the village.
Between 11am and 3pm, they will show off their skills and demonstrate the possibilities for the proposed skate park. There will be refreshments, a tombola and raffle.
