AN exhibition at a County Durham art gallery aims to shed a new light on the literal meanings of everyday objects.
Stephen Kirkby's show, Misstakes, at the Durham Light Infantry Museum and Durham Art Gallery, puts a light-hearted slant on how objects are described.
Dennis Hardingham, exhibitions and events officer at the Durham County Council-run gallery, said: "We know what a grass skirt is, but do we really know what a honey comb might do to a hair style or what you would keep in a nail file?''
Stephen has designed about 50 objects, ranging from a corkscrew and sugar bowl to runner beans and a chest of drawers, which are on show in the gallery's Print Room from today until September 11.
