BOOKIES are used to taking money from unlucky punters, but a Darlington betting shop is looking to give cash back to the community.
Ladbrokes, in Neasham Road, has been running a raffle for the past few weeks and the proceeds will go towards its community fund.
Local community groups or societies can apply for grants from the fund for the benefit of people across the borough.
The raffle will be drawn next Tuesday.
The winning prize is a limited edition framed print donated by Darlington artist Megan Burford.
Shop manager Judith Winter said: "The picture, called Synergy, is about 3ft by 2ft and is of a racehorse and jockey. It comes with a certificate to prove its authenticity and raffle tickets, priced at 50p each, are still on sale."
The community fund has already benefited local people.
Some of the money was used earlier this summer to help stage a fun day at the newly-built Lascelles Park.
The raffle draw will take place at 11.30am.
