A GROUP of four girls have been questioned after several cars were damaged in a Teesdale village.

Three 12-year-old girls and one 13-year-old girl from the Sunderland area were detained after a number of motor vehicles parked in the main street at Cotherstone were damaged with a stick.

The incident happened at about 5.15pm on Sunday and the four girls were initially detained by a member of the public and an off-duty policeman. The four have been interviewed by police and bailed to return to Barnard Castle police office next month.
