A SERIES of guided walks is being held in Darlington to teach residents more about the history of their town.
The first walk is on Wednesday and will be led by Darlington historian George Flynn.
The walk will be around the historic centre of Darlington and walkers are asked to meet at the steps of the old Town Hall - the Market Hall - at 6pm.
Mr Flynn will be leading another walk on Sunday at 2pm to Merrybent.
The circular walk covers some rough ground so is unsuitable for wheelchairs. Those interested are asked to meet at the corner of West Auckland Road and Bates Avenue, in Darlington.
On Bank Holiday Monday, there are two more walks.
Mr Flynn will lead a North End Ramble from 2pm, which will investigate the area of Darlington between Whessoe Road and Thompson Street.
It will start at the corner of Whessoe Road and North Road.
At 6.30pm, Jean Kirkland will host a ghost walk setting off from the Civic Theatre.
The walks are all organised by Darlington Borough Council, with the help of volunteers.
Walkers do not need to book in advance. There is a £2 charge for each walk, and children and concessions cost £1. Suitable shoes are advisable.
