A WOMAN who was treated for breast cancer inspired her work colleagues to raise £1,000 for charity.
Sheila Potter, a Darlington Borough Council social worker, organised a team called Potter's Trotters to run the 5km Race for Life course in South Park earlier this year.
Ms Potter said the support from her manager and colleagues in the authority's community mental health team helped her stay positive throughout her treatment.
The annual women-only race is organised by Cancer Research and aims to raise funds and awareness, while encouraging women to exercise by walking, jogging or running the course.
All the team members were happy with their times, with many recording personal bests.
Care manager Julie Wheatley finished in only 17 minutes, coming second out of 2,000 entrants.
The team, which also included Lynne Heslop, Jo Rigby, Debbie Willcox, Dawn Heyes and Elaine Parsons, raised £1,000 for Cancer Research thanks to donations.
