POLICE have turned to the public for help to identify a man they wish to speak to as part of an investigation into cheque thefts.
It follows an incident in the afternoon of July 29 when a man entered commercial premises on Queen Margaret's industrial estate, in Scarborough.
A cheque book and other property were taken from an unattended coat pocket and a man was later captured on security cameras in the HSBC Bank, St Nicholas Street, where he cashed two of the stolen cheques and obtained a large amount of money.
The man was described as white, about 6ft, aged about 40, thin, with short fair hair.
He was wearing a light blue shirt, dark blue tie and dark trousers.
