SHOPPERS will be forgiven for thinking they have stepped back in time today when Ancient Rome arrives in Hartlepool.
A senator, accompanied by soldiers and women, will set up camp at the travelling museum, the Curiosity Shop, in Middleton Grange Shopping Centre.
The Romans are members of re-enactment group Roman Antiqua, based in the town.
The Curiosity Shop's seven-week stay in Hartlepool ends on August 29.
Among the items on display are a selection of life-size Dr Who models and a 10ft squid.
Entry is free and the shop is open from 9.30am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday, including the bank holiday.
