NEW allotments could be provided in Darlington.
Plans for the development on land in Rydal Road have been submitted to Darlington Borough Council by Tees Valley Regeneration.
The organisation is behind the £170m Central Park project, which will bring offices, houses, a hotel and a new Darlington College of Technology to Haughton Road.
The scheme has forced the re-location of the Hundens Lane allotments, with Rydal Road identified as the best site for the move. The proposal is to create 29 plots and any extra land will be made available for Dodmire infant and junior schools.
One letter of complaint has been received from a resident, saying that the plans would generate more traffic and attract vandals to the area.
In a report to councillors, officers say the site is a suitable location to extend the existing allotment provision.
Planning officers are recommending that the planning committee approves the scheme on Wednesday.
