A toilet complete with piped music has been opened.

Chester-le-Street District Council has built the public toilet at Foundry Lane in the town, just off Front Street, behind the Queen's Head pub.

Council chairman Councillor Allen Turner opened the toilet this week.

It includes facilities for disabled users and baby changing.

Taped music is played, and there is an attendant on duty at all times to ensure high standards of cleanliness.

The toilet is open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday, and costs 20p. Disabled users with a radar key can use the facilities free
