POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man suffered serious injuries on Saturday night after being hit by a car on Market Street in South Bank.
The man, in his 40's, had both legs broken when a BMW X5 hit him. He was taken by ambulance to James Cook University Hospital.
The 40-year-old driver was arrested and released on police bail. DC Ian Cox said: "CCTV cameras do show there were a lot of people in the area at the time who may have seen the incident and we would like to speak to them."
Police are investigating the incident and anyone with information has been asked to call (01642) 302626 or (01642) 301940.
