A PROJECT to revitalise a North-East riverside moves up a pace this week.
The River Team Revival Project, in Gateshead, looks at reversing environmental pollution and improving life for people who live and work in its catchment area.
A small project team has come up with ideas for projects, with their suggestions forming a plan covering the river's catchment area.
Residents, groups and businesses are being asked for their views on the plan, which will shape the area's regeneration.
The consultation is being launched on Wednesday at the UK Land Estates offices, on the Team Valley Trading Estate.
The project is part of a wider scheme - called Pure - which links environmental projects in the region with those in the Netherlands and Sweden and is funded by European money.
Environmental improvements have already started on the river at Queensway North, on the Team Valley Trading Estate.
Project co-ordinator Tara Duncan said: "Until recently, the river was one of the most polluted in Britain and is heavily modified in places.
"There is still a lot of work to be done to put right the damage that has been done, and launching this plan is a step in that direction."
