POLICE are appealing for help in tracking down a man using a stolen credit card.

The man used the card in several shops in Northallerton, Darlington and Cumbria on the afternoon of Thursday, July 21.

Inquiries showed the card, along with a wallet and its contents, was taken earlier in the day from an office at North Yorkshire County Council's headquarters in Northallerton.

The image of a man police would like to speak to was captured on security cameras at a supermarket in Northallerton. Detectives say they would like to identify him as he may be able to help with their inquiries.

He is described as about 6ft, of slim build with short dark hair that was greying at the sides. He was wearing a light blue shirt, dark trousers and a dark tie.

Anyone who can help is asked to contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
