A MOTHER was fighting for her life after suffering a heart attack following the discovery of her son's body.
Shirley Dunn was rushed to hospital after she was told a decomposing body had been found near allotments.
The remains were later identified as her son, Michael Craig Cardill, 18, of Matfen Close, Blyth, Northumberland, who vanished a month ago. His brother, Christopher Palmer, broke down as he visited the scene.
He said that Mrs Dunn suffered her heart attack after finding out the body had been found on Thursday night. He said: "She's in hospital now. She doted on him. She loved the ground he walked on."
There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
