A COUNCIL team is to take on a company in a cricketing contest.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council players will swing into action against administration company Liberata, which the council works closely with.
The two sides will take part in a 20-over charity match at Redcar Cricket Club, in Kirkleatham Street, from 5.30pm on Wednesday.
It will be the first time the two organisations have donned their whites, with money going to the three chosen charities of the Mayor of Redcar and Cleveland, Councillor Peter Spencer.
Each of the players will pay £2 and spectators will pay 50p, with money going to Teesside Hospice, Diabetes UK (Northern and Yorkshire region) and Zoe's Place Children's Hospice.
Council team captain Paul Taylor threw down the gauntlet to the opposition.
He said: "We want them to have their best team out.
"We are high on confidence and we have got some really useful players in our side.
"Who needs to watch England verses the Aussies? On our day we are untouchable."
Refreshments will be available from the cricket club bar during the match.
