Asking to see the wine list has taken on a new meaning at one North Yorkshire hotel.
For the Cedar Court Hotel, in Harrogate, has created a "wall of wine" at its restaurant.
The wall of 28 flattened bottles, created by Harrogate's Flat Bottle Company, has already become something of a talking point among diners, who can now view every bottle of wine on the menu before making their selection.
General manager Simon Cotton said: "While we are committed to sourcing the very best of North Yorkshire produce for our menu, we have to concede that there isn't much call for locally-produced wine.
"However, we can now at least say that the bottles have been flattened by a local company, which is the next best thing.
"And the advantage for our customers is that they can see exactly what they're buying."
The Flat Bottle Company was established to recycle wine, beer and champagne bottles, and now takes orders for its flattened bottles from all over the world.
