A woman was jailed yesterday for smuggling drugs into Durham Prison.
Teesside Crown Court was told that Caroline Simpson, 35, smuggled heroin and bupreonorphin into the jail for a friend's boyfriend who was a prisoner there.
The Recorder of Middlesbrough, Judge Peter Fox, said there had to be a substantial prison sentence as a warning to her and to others.
Simpson, of Grainger Street, Darlington, was jailed for 15 months after she admitted supplying a Class A drug on November 26 last year, and also conspiracy to defraud stores.
