YOUNGSTERS have been enjoying some cricketing tips from the experts.

More than 50 youngsters took part in three days of training at Hambleton Leisure Centre, in Northallerton, courtesy of Yorkshire County Cricket Club.

Children from the age of six were shown a range of skills as the coaches put them through their paces with drills and a series of mini-games.

And with the weather not spoiling the outdoor training course, many children shone through and look set to play cricket at a competitive level.

Yorkshire Cricket Club coach Doug Mulholland said: "Seeing the children develop so much over the three days is fantastic.

"We have seen some momentous occasions where the lads have overcome difficulties with the game or played some great cricket.

"The standard has been high and coaching them to further develop has been extremely worthwhile."

Certificates were given out to all the children at the end of the course and two special prizes were also awarded.

James Coatesworth, from Romanby, was rewarded for being the most improved and enthusiastic player with the presentation of a Yorkshire Cricket shirt, signed by the current team.

Fellow student Ryan Tuck, from Stokesley, was selected to go to Yorkshire's Headingley cricket ground to develop his skills at a training session with the club's coach for his age group.
