A SCHOOL safety campaign is to be staged at a Durham City shopping centre next month.
Staff at the Millburngate Shopping Centre are planning a two-day event, on September 3 and 4, when there will be information and advice on safe travel to and from school, a competition to win a mountain bike and several promotional giveaways.
The Back to School Safely road show, backed by the Highways Agency, will tour shopping centres throughout the UK during over the next few months, as children and parents prepare for the return to school.
Centre director Andy Bradley said: "Millburngate Shopping Centre is very much a community centre and, by hosting events such as the Back to School Safely road show, we are providing shoppers and their families with useful information and advice.
"There will be lots of families in the centre in the week before the new term starts, buying uniforms, stationery and footwear, and we are sure they will find the event of great interest and benefit."
