ORGANISERS of a popular town show are advising amateur crafts people and gardeners not to leave their entries to the last minute.
The closing date for applications to craft and horticulture classes at Great Aycliffe Show, to be held at School Aycliffe Lane, on August Bank Holiday weekend, is Tuesday August 23.
The 115 classes cover a wide range of amateur crafts, skills and garden produce including cookery, knitting, wine and beer making, photography, embroidery, art and woodwork.
There are 18 categories for children, aged four to 16-years-old, along with traditional vegetable, flower and leek classes, which make a return to the programme.
The event had been held in June in recent years, but has been switched back to its original bank holiday date, Saturday 27 and Sunday 28, August, to enable gardeners to enter their produce. Entry is free and winners will receive cash and a trophy.
