A DIABETIC woman is taking on a walking challenge to raise money for essential medical equipment.
Hannah Pierson, from Bolam, near Darlington, will walk the length of Hadrian's Wall to raise funds for fellow diabetics.
She is following the fundraising lead of her doctor, Bill Lamb, who embarked on a series of fundraising walks to buy insulin pumps for his child patients.
Miss Pierson, 21, also hopes to buy pumps, which cost about £2,600 each.
She will be supported by her parents on the hike, which will take place from September 3 to 11.
Her mother, Adelaide, said: "We are very proud of her. This is her idea, and we are just going along to make sure she is alright."
Sponsorship forms for Miss Pierson are available from Leggs and Heaven shops in Skinnergate, Darlington, or anyone wanting to help can call Miss Pierson on 07966 099506.
