A PUB family fun day is being staged to raise money for a hospice appeal.
Staff from The White Tun in Witton Gilbert hope to bring in money for St Cuthbert's Hospice, in Durham City, during an afternoon of bank holiday fun on August 29.
Earlier this year, St Cuthbert's launched its Key Appeal to raise enough money to open a £3.2m extension to offer 24-hour specialist palliative care.
The campaign, backed by The Northern Echo, has already brought in £1.9m but still needs support from the community to bring in the rest of the cash.
The pub fun day is being put together by Carol Turnbull, who has run the popular pub for almost four years.
She said: "St Cuthbert's looks after people who suffer from cancer and I have had a scare and my partner's brother has had a scare so we thought it would be a good idea to donate the money to the hospice.
"Its also about making sure there is something taking place in the village over the bank holiday for the children before they go back to school.
"It's going to be a fun day for the whole family."
Among the events taking place during the day - which lasts from noon to 6pm - are a bucking bronco, tombola, raffle, bric-a-brac, bouncy castles, face-painting and other stalls.
There are also plans for a family disco in the evening.
