HOPES that runaway mother Elaine Walker would return home to her teenage daughter were dashed yesterday when her belongings were emptied into a skip.

Yesterday morning, workmen arrived at Miss Walker's rented house in Redmire, near Leyburn, North Yorkshire, to empty the property ready for the next tenant.

They spent most of the day stripping the property. Items including beds, clothing, kitchen equipment and cabinets were dumped in two skips.

Last Friday, The Northern Echo revealed how Miss Walker, 45, had abandoned her 15-year-old daughter, Laura, to move to Turkey to be with her 26-year-old holiday romance boyfriend.

Miss Walker met Ali Murat while on holiday in the country in June.

Earlier this week she denied abandoning her daughter to start a new life and said she had no intention of returning.

Speaking from the Turkish province of Gaziantep, Miss Walker said she had left her daughter with a relative.

She said: "My daughter didn't want to come because she had exams.

"She will come here for a holiday before the new year."

Miss Walker said she was prepared to risk everything to be with her lover.

"I fell madly in love with him at first sight," she said.

"The age difference between us is completely unimportant. I won't return to Britain again."

As Miss Walker's former home was cleared yesterday, neighbour Lucy Hodges said: "They took out beds, mattresses and loads of black binbags.

"They had to smash up the wooden cabinets. There were a lot of items and it was quite a slow process.

"I guess this means she isn't coming back here."

Miss Walker left the three-bedroomed terrace house with her 17-year-old daughter, Stacey, who also has a boyfriend in Turkey, at midnight just over three weeks ago.

The pair took a taxi to the airport and flew to Antalya, in Turkey.

It is understood she left a message for the landlord, Chevin Housing Association, saying the company could sell her possessions to meet rent arrears.

Although no one from the housing association was available for comment yesterday, it is believed there is already a waiting list of people wanting to move into the property.

Social services said Laura was staying with members of her extended family.

Her father, George Wilthew, from Darlington, is believed to have been abroad when he was told his daughter had been abandoned.

It is understood that he has now returned, although it is not known if he has contacted Laura.
