SPORTY youngsters have been enjoying their summer holidays at a series of training events.
The Working Together Group, which includes Darlington Council, Darlington Association on Disability, the Youth Service and voluntary groups, has produced a programme of activities for young people in Darlington during the school holidays.
This week there is a tennis camp at Hummersknott Comprehensive School as well as a hockey camp and athletics taster sessions at Eastbourne Sports Complex.
In the coming weeks, there will be intensive soccer courses and a multi-activity club which will introduce children, aged eight to 13, to a range of new sports.
Other events are being held at the Dolphin Centre, community centres and in the Market Square.
As well as sports activities, there are arts and crafts workshops throughout the town as well as music and drama events at the Arts Centre and Civic Theatre.
Lee Vasey, Darlington Council's cabinet member for leisure services, said: "Taking part in these organised activities is a good opportunity for young people to make friends and to try out a new sport or activity.
"We want young people to have fun during their long summer holiday and keep safe. I hope parents will encourage their children to see what is on offer."
A leaflet has been produced with more details about the activities which is available at council venues throughout the town.
