IMAGES of famine that form part of a North-East university research project have gone on display in London.
The exhibition at The Newsroom - The Guardian and Observer visitor centre - features media coverage of famine from the 19th Century through to the present day.
Professor David Campbell, professor of cultural and political geography at Durham University, is co-curator of the show, which draws heavily on his long-term research.
He said: "I thought it was appropriate to run this kind of show in the 20th anniversary year of Live Aid.
"Visual images in the media are the most immediate hook for the public to learn about the scale of problems like famine and become a trigger for people to try to help."
The exhibition runs until September 9.
