Police officers have bought a garden bench as a memorial to a popular constable.
Jonathan Green, 23, of Brinkburn Road, Darlington, died when his car hit a tree beside the A67 near Barnard Castle, soon after he finished work in the town last November.
His colleagues from Barnard Castle and Bishop Auckland collected £350 to have the bench made and inscribed in his memory.
PC Victoria Barnett, one of the organisers, said: "We felt we should do something special in his memory.
"His parents are both delighted that this tribute is being arranged for him."
The bench, made at the Teesdale Garden Crafts workshop at Stainton Grove, is to be placed near Barnard Castle police station.
PC Barnett and five other officers are taking part in the Great North Run next month for the Make a Wish Foundation, in PC Green's memory.
