A TEAM representing Darlington Building Society (DBS) is attempting to climb 24 Lake District peaks in 24 hours, in the name of charity.
In the process, the team will scale 13,300ft and walk more than 31 miles.
The 24 Peak Challenge, on September 10 and 11, is in aid of the National Deaf Children's Society.
The building society wants to raise £5,000 towards the charity's work in supporting deaf children, deaf young people and their families, as well as professionals working on their behalf.
The building society directors have pledged £2,500 leaving a similar sum still to be raised.
The team comprises mortgage manager Jeremy Horner, chief executive Peter Rowley, non-executive director Richard Dyke, underwriting manager Robert Murphy, district manager Mark Woodcock and computer programmer Dave Baker.
Team leader Mr Horner said: "Darlington Building Society is dedicated to looking after local interests so we wanted to support the National Deaf Children's Society in the work they do in our region.
"Although the target of £5,000 is a daunting one, we feel that with the support of our staff, customers, local contacts and the public we will be able to achieve our goal."
Anyone who would like to make a donation is asked to log on to www.justgiving.com/dbs24peaks to make a pledge.
